Competitive Program
This program is optional for dancers 13 and up who would like to compete.
Auditions will be held once a year and the placement will be under the discretion of the director, choreographers, and trainers. We require commitment from both dancers and parents as dancers train more extensively throughout the week.

Requirements:
Mandatory attendance for training and choreography rehearsals,
follow specific dress code,
Members in extracurricular activities are expected to be at all rehearsals
unless another arrangement has been made with the office.

Competition Season
Members of the Dance Creation Competitive Team may begin rehearsals early in September and conclude in June by performing their pieces in a DC end-of-year recital. All groups, solos, duets and trios are not guaranteed to perform in each recital. They are assigned to either the first or 2nd show.
ENROLLMENT REQUIREMENTS:
DC Competitive team members are required to enroll in at least one DC regular class of the same style as to the group or groups they are participating in. (For example a dancer in Hip Hop Group must be enrolled in a Hip Hop class or another urban style.
There will be a 2-hour training/choreography class each week and all members are required to attend the training session. Specific time and day will be announced later on.
MEMBER PLACEMENT:
Dancers are carefully placed in their competition groups that are matching their technical abilities. The age of one dancer may differ from the age group of another. But we make a concerted effort to make sure dancers in groups with one another are going to be challenged equally.
COST AND FEES:
All competition tuition and fees are final and no refunds are given.

This fee covers cost for the instruction/choreographer to reset choreography

COSTUME FEES:
-Could be from $70-100
Charge varies depending on costume selection of dancer
COMPETITION FEES:
Competitions charge an entry per dancer and per group.
Fees range from:
Group (4+ dancers) per group per dancer: $40-$70
Trio: $50-70
Duet: $80-$90
Solo: $100-$105
If traveling out of town is necessary, travel expenses for competitions are to be covered by the DC competitive team members' parents/guardians.
Attendance Expectations:
Fall Rehearsals are sacred because all dancers are learning choreography for the first time.
Absences are not allowed. Missing a mandatory rehearsal may result in dismissal
from the competitive team. See above for drop fee.
Members are expected to be on time for all rehearsals and competitions.
If there is an emergency, you are expected to contact the office.
Joining a competition requires commitment from both parents and students. We acknowledge the big financial commitment that is involved in joining competitions. We will be holding fundraisers for our competitive team with the help of all members and parents and this will help alleviate some of the expenses involved.
